The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Is Here, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Iconic Releases

Much like the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow

The movie will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo has three new games officially announced for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
