Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to return for the upcoming Hunger Games series instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.

Reports indicate that fan-favorite stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

A Major Return to Panem

Lawrence and Hutcherson are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their appearance will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, given that the original saga concluded with their characters living in peace.

This marks the sixth film in the global Hunger Games franchise.

The Source Material

Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.

The Storyline and Fresh Faces

The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

The film welcomes several accomplished actors in important characters:

  • Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
  • Ralph Fiennes will appear as a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.

Current Projects and Release Timeline

In other news, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Regarding the production schedule:
