Donald Trump has announced he is increasing tariffs on products brought in from Canadian sources after the territory of Ontario aired an anti-import tax ad featuring former President Reagan.

In a social media post on Saturday, Donald Trump called the commercial a "misrepresentation" and condemned Canadian authorities for not removing it prior to the MLB finals.

"Due to their major falsification of the truth, and aggressive move, I am raising the Tariff on Canada by 10 percent over and above what they are currently paying now," Trump posted.

Subsequent to the President on last Thursday withdrew from commercial discussions with Canadian officials, the Ontario premier said he would pull the commercial.

Ontario Response

Ontario Premier the Premier said on last Friday that he would pause his province's anti-import tax commercial series in the America, telling journalists that he made the decision after discussions with Prime Minister Carney "so that trade negotiations can continue".

He also said it would continue to air during the weekend, featuring matches for the MLB finals, which includes the Toronto team versus the Dodgers.

Economic Situation

The Canadian nation is the only G7 nation country that has not reached a arrangement with the United States since Donald Trump began attempting to charge significant tariffs on goods from key trade partners.

The US has previously enforced a thirty-five percent duty on each Canadian goods - though the majority are free under an present free trade agreement. It has also slapped targeted levies on Canadian products, featuring a 50 percent duty on metals and 25% on automobiles.

In his message, published while he was traveling to Asia, Donald Trump indicated he was including 10 percent to those taxes.

Three-quarters of Canada's exported goods are shipped to the America, and the province is host to the majority of the nation's vehicle industry.

Reagan Ad Details

The advertisement, which was paid for by the Ontario authorities, references ex-President Reagan, a Republican and symbol of American conservatism, remarking duties "hurt every American".

The commercial takes excerpts from a 1987-era broadcast that centered on foreign trade.

The Reagan Foundation, which is tasked with preserving the late president's legacy, had criticised the commercial for using "carefully chosen" recordings and said it misrepresented the former president's remarks. It also said the Ontario government had not sought consent to use it.

Ongoing Disputes

In his message on Truth Social on the weekend, Trump said that the commercial should have been taken down before.

"The Ad was to be pulled IMMEDIATELY, but they kept it broadcasting last night during the World Series, realizing that it was a FRAUD," he posted, while traveling to Southeast Asia.

the Premier had earlier vowed to broadcast the Ronald Reagan advert in all GOP-controlled area in the America.

Each of Trump and the PM will be participating in the Association of Southeast Asian Nation in the Malaysian nation, but the President advised journalists traveling with him on the presidential plane that he does not have any "plan" of speaking with his Canadian PM during the trip.

In his update, Donald Trump further accused Canada of attempting to affect an upcoming American high court lawsuit which could terminate his entire tariff regime.

The case, to be considered by the American judiciary soon, will decide whether the duties are lawful.

On Thursday, Donald Trump further lashed out, saying that the advertisement was designed to "meddle" with "the most significant legal case"

MLB Finals Association

The Reagan commercial is not the only way that the region – base of the Toronto team – is using the MLB finals as a stage to condemn the President's duties.

In a clip published on Friday, the Premier and Governor Gavin Newsom humorously made bets about which team would succeed in the championship.

The two leaders frequently joked about import taxes in the video, with Doug Ford promising to send Newsom a container of Canadian syrup if the Dodgers triumph.

"The tariff might charge me a few extra bucks at the frontier nowadays, but it'll be acceptable," he stated.

In reply, Newsom requested Ford to continue allowing US-made drinks to be marketed in Ontario beverage outlets, and promised to deliver "California's premium grape drink" if the Jays succeed.

They ended their exchange each saying: "To a great World Series, and a tariff-free friendship between the region and the state."
